It is a liquid preparation containing methyl salicylate , menthol and camphor , which acts as a counterirritant , i.e. an agent that causes local irritation of the skin to draw the sensation of pain deeper into the tissues. Applications include temporary relief from muscle and joint pain such as back pain, arthritis, strains, bruises, cramps – also pain caused by tension or physical work.
